They can find their likes and dislikes with one another. The students will get a chance to share activities in which they may want to try or items they would want to eat.
Brief Procedure: The students will first get a chance to talk about their cultures and what they do in their families as an everyday tradition. They will also include different types of foods and activities that they do here in the United States.
1. Students will write down activities and foods that they like and dislikes and make it in list form.
Then begin discussion about the Mexico and if the students can tell you anything they may know about Mexico (foods, culture, background, activities, sports, etc)
2. The students will then begin a silent reading on Mexico culture and they will highlight interesting facts that they find throughout the reading.
3. After reading the article the students will do a compare and contrast diagram on the city of Mexico and to their cities to the list similarities and differences.
4. They should come up with at least three separate ideas that they felt were the same that they have done in their lives and three separate ideas that are different that they have never done.
5. After looking over both lists they will write a short story of what they liked about Mexico. Foods or activities that they would be willing to try from Mexico. Lastly, any additional information they may want to add.
Materials Used: paper, pencil/pen, reading materials
Technology Component: The following link will be used for the students to read on behalf of Mexican culture in their city. Here they will read through the article on the website and then will be able to compare and contrast the city of Mexico to their own city.

Modification/Differentiation: For my struggling students there will be a shorter copy of the article on Mexico and this will have highlighted key points of some of some of the most important culture activities there are in Mexico. They will rewrite the main points on their Venn diagrams as seen and they will differentiate whether or not they have or have not done those activities.
Assessment of Common Core Standards: Will be a final draft written on comparing life in Mexico to their everyday life. I will look for punctuation and grammar errors; I will also be looking for clear descriptions of both cultures and the biggest differences between both.
